چکیده
Calcitonin and ·-CGRP are products of the alternatively spliced gene CALCA. Calcitonin (CALC) mRNA is predominantly found in thyrodial C cells and mRNA encoding the neuropeptide calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in neural tissues (Amara et al., 1982, Rosenfeld et al., 1983). In vivo, calcitonin reduces serum calcium and acts as an antagonist to the parathyroid hormone. The human CALC-A/·-CGRP gene stretches over 7.5 kb and consists of six exons (Steenbergh et al., 1986, Broad et al., 1989). CALCA and CALCB, the pseudogene CALCP, and the gene encoding the islet amyloid polypeptide IAPP are members of the calcitonin/CGRP family. Human CALCA, CALCB, and CALCP have been assigned to chromosome HSA11p15.2→p15.1 (Hoovers et al., 1993). Here we report the localization of the porcine CALC-A/·-CGRP gene to chromosome 2 confirming homology between the p arms of chromosomes HSA11 and SSC2. Materials and methods

Regional Assignment of the Rat Alpha-Feto Protein Gene (Afp) to Chromosome 14p21-p22
The gene encoding alpha fetoprotein (locus symbol Afp) was assigned to rat chromosome 14 at band p21-p22 using fluorescence in situ hybridization method. The present result suggests that there is a conserved syntenic group between human 4q11-q13, mouse 5F-G, and rat 14p21-p22.
متن کاملAssignment of the porcine FUS1 gene to SSC13q21q22 by somatic cell and radiation hybrid panel mapping.
FUS1 is a candidate tumor suppressor gene organized in a 370 kb region which contains a set of 19 genes. The human FUS1 genomic sequence spans 3.3 kb containing 3 exons (NM_007275; Lerman and Minna, 2000). Overexpression of the FUS1 gene leads to G1 arrest and growth inhibition of lung cancer cells (Kondo et al., 2001). The human and the murine FUS1 genes were assigned to chromosome HSA3p21.3 a...
متن کاملDetection of abl/bcr Fusion Gene in Patients Affected by Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia by Dual-Colour Interphase Fluorescence in situ Hybridisation
Conventional cytogenetic is the standard technique for detection of Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Evaluation of abelson murine leukemia/breakpoint cluster region (abl/bcr) fusion using dual-colour fluorescence in situ hybridization (D-FISH) is an alternative approach allowing rapid and reliable detection of the disease. We employed the technique of interphase D...
متن کاملRegional Assignment of Ptpre Encoding Protein Tyrosine Phosphataes ε to Mouse Chromosome 7F3
Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPases) regulate the tyrosine phosphorylation of target proteins involved in several biological activities including cell proliferation and transformation. Protein tyrosine phosphatase E (PTPE) contains duplicated PTPase-like domains and a short extracellular region. Using the fluorescence in situ hybridization method, the gene encoding PTPE (locus symbol Ptpre...
متن کاملDevelopment of an Alu-PCR Amplified YAC Probe Suitable for Enumeration of Chromosome 13 on Uncultured Lymphocytes and Amniocytes by Fluorescence in situ Hybridization
The main objective of the present study was to develop an efficient and reliable probe to be routinely used for detection of chromosome 13 copy numbers by interphase FISH. To achieve this, a Yeast Artificial Chromosome (YAC) containing sequences specific for human 13q12 (744D11), was cultured and the whole yeast genomic DNA was extracted. The human insert within the isolated DNA was amplified b...
